The Latvian entrepreneurs’ association — the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (hereinafter — LTRK) — welcomes the fact that the government has listened to the entrepreneurs, and, at the special session, the Cabinet of Ministers decided on the regulations on support measures for employers affected by the Covid-19 crisis. Entrepreneurs welcomed this decision as the crisis affects everyone, irrespective of the industry, without consideration — whether the company is small or large, operating on the local market or exporting, a trader, manufacturer or service provider.
“I am pleased that we managed to convince the Saeima and the government that entrepreneurs need support regardless of the sector. The virus does not discriminate on the grounds of the sector or the size of company. Many thanks go to all parties involved and in particular all 71 sectoral associations, societies and federations, which joined the LTRK’s call,” says the Chairperson of the Board of LTRK Jānis Endziņš.
LTRK believes that these support tools will motivate companies to continue the work, stimulate them to retain employees, but also to seek possibilities of continuing operations, albeit on a reduced scale or by changing the operating profile.
LTRK will continue providing support to its members and will be working closely with the government to represent the entrepreneurs’ interests.
