LATVIAN ENTREPRENEURS AND WHISTLE-BLOWING: PAIN OR GAIN?

How a whistle-blowing differs from a submission, complaint or other reporting mechanisms? When should an employee address the employer and when — competent state authority? Why do we need internal reporting procedure at all? Latvian entrepreneurs received answers to these questions and others in seminars about whistle-blowing.

 

In September, the State Chancellery in collaboration with the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised seminars for Latvian entrepreneurs in Liepāja, Daugavpils, Jelgava and Cēsis. More than 150 representatives from companies, municipalities, and other organisations participated in them to get answers about introduction of internal whistle-blowing mechanism. Whistleblower Contact Point experts from the State Chancellery have collected frequently asked questions from the seminars, that are topical for entrepreneurs one half year after passing of the Whistleblowing Law.
