LCCI URGES GOVERNMENT TO SUPPORT MES INITIATIVE REGARDING LATVIAN PARTICIPATION IN CERN

CERN

The LCCI urges the government to endorse the informative report of the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) “Regarding the funding of the participation of Latvia in the status of an associated country of the European Organisation for Nuclear Research” and the relevant protocol decision envisaging that the MES drafts and submits the application of Latvia at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research in the capacity of an associated country, provided that the necessary additional funding is allocated for this purpose.

On behalf of entrepreneurs, the LCCI has already pointed out on multiple occasions that participation in the organisation CERN is important for the economy, science, research and reputation of the state, because it enables the opportunity to provide high added value commissions and services and to strengthen the academic environment. “Participation is essential for Latvia, because this way we can present ourselves as a modern and developed state to implement unique projects,” tells the President of the LCCI Aigars Rostovskis.
