On 21 March of this year, within the framework of EUROMED Invest project took place a conference organized by Latvian biggest association of entrepreneurs Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry LCCI and network of European level chambers of commerce and industry EUROCHAMBRES on Africa Mediterranean region and its business environment. Conference was attended by and involved in active discussions more than 40 Latvian entrepreneurs from various production and service provision industries. 

Conference moderator’s role was undertaken by EUROCHAMBRES CEO Dirk Vantyghem, in turn, conference opening speech was given by LCCI Board Councillor in Foreign Affairs Mārtiņš Perts.

In the first part of the conference, Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco in Stockholm Makhfoud Bakhboukhi shared experience about Africa Mediterranean region business environment, culture and Morocco as a potentially successful export market. In turn, other discussion panel members – Monica Airold (ANIMA Invest) and Arturs Nadcrinicinii (Regional Activity Centre for Sustainable Consumption and Production) – informed conference participants about the support provided by the European Union’s projects to entrepreneurs in relation to the Mediterranean region and development of green technology projects.

In the second part of the conference, representatives of Latvian companies – Arnis Petrānis, SIA Peruza Board Chairman (company specializes in designing non-standard equipment and technological lines for food, cosmetics and pharmacy industry, with especially big experience in designing and manufacturing of fish processing equipment) and Kārlis Mišinskis, AS Rīgas Dzirnavnieks Export and Import Manager (company is one of the biggest grain processing companies in the Baltic States) – told about their practical experience in Africa Mediterranean region countries. In turn, Egypt company SolarizEgypt representative Yaseen Abdel Ghaffar shared his experience about the Egypt market and his experience in solar power industry.

Euromed Invest project’s goal is to create a model of cooperation between European and Africa Mediterranean region countries with aim to increase business opportunities and investments of European companies in the region, as well as to promote competitiveness of European companies in the region.
