The president of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Aigars Rostovskis has assumed the post of a co-chair of the Skills and Entrepreneurship Committee of the largest European business association that unites 20 million companies — EUROCHAMBRES.
EUROCHAMBRES has a total of five committees, which are tasked with working towards the development of areas essential for business, including the common market, small and medium enterprises, European sustainability, etc. The Austrian representative Martha Schultz is the other co-chair of the Skills and Entrepreneurship Committee.
The LCCI was honoured to receive His Excellency, the Ambassador of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay in the Republic of Latvia, Mr Pablo Alberto Porro Lancieri at “Uzņēmēju nams” (Entrepreneurs’ House) for a tête-à-tête discussion about existing co-operation between both countries in matters of economics, the importance of a country’s image in international markets, good practice of attracting investments, the role of education, as well as potential possibilities of organising a business visit.
Today, on 10 January, the Manager of Corporate Department of Swedbank Ieva Vīgante and the Chairman of the Board of the largest association of entrepreneurs of Latvia — the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, signed a co-operation agreement to implement 38 business club events across all regions of Latvia — in the biggest cities of Vidzeme, Kurzeme, Zemgale and Latgale — in the year 2020.

The largest association of entrepreneurs of Latvia — the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (the LCCI) — believes that the introduction of new, reduced value added tax (VAT) rates will not resolve sectoral issues related to the high labour cost. Whereas, the provision of the reverse charge or a similar alternative procedure would offer an effective instrument to curb fraud, in order to reduce the VAT gap of Latvia in comparison with the European Union (the EU) average.
More than a half, i.e. 64% of entrepreneurs admit that they have faced lack of low-profile labour force, and even more of them, that is 76%, found challenging to attract also highly qualified professionals. Such data were obtained in a survey of the members of the largest association of Latvian entrepreneurs, the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LTRK)
