Alūksne Town Council is the main shareholder of „SIMONE” Joint-Stock Company, „ALŪKSNES NAMI” Ltd, „RŪPE” Ltd - public utility services, heating systems, house administration, water-supply, sewerage systems. "Spodra" Municipal Agency is specialised in area cleaning, maintenance, improvement. "ALJA" Municipal Institution of Alūksne Town Council and Jaunalūksne Rural District Council maintains Alūksne Lake. Municipal institutions provides educational, sports, cultural and recreation services. Tourism is one of the main town business activities. A few tourism companies operate in Alūksne and its vicinities.
